Battlefield, Shmattlefield

Last week in Iraq, during an assault against Shiite militias in Basra, more than 1,000 American-trained Iraqi soldiers and policemen either wouldn't fight or ran away. Not just grunts, but "dozens of officers" according to reports, and a couple of field commanders. The telltale sign they'd been trained by the US is that the deserting soldiers went to Canada.
